FULTON Captain Robert A. (Bob) Passed away at VGH on July 17, 2009 after a valiant struggle. Born in Nanaimo on May 19, 1916, the oldest of five boys. The family moved to the Dunbar area where Bob attended local schools, met Jeanne at Lord Kitchener, and graduated from Magee High School in 1934. His life long career in the Marine Towing Industry started as deckhand, working to attain his “Master” certificate in 1940. Bob served full time on tugboats in B.C. Coast, Puget Sound, and Alaskan waters. Jeanne and Bob were married in 1941 and he came ashore in 1946 to enjoy his family. He continued a long and varied career in the business, joining Seaspan International Ltd. in 1963 until his retirement in 1980. He loved the Coast and forever shared this passion and his many Marine experiences with family and friends. Bob was predeceased by brother Ronald in 1985, wife Jeanne in 2006, and is survived by daughter Heather (Richard), granddaughter Andrea (Brent), great-granddaughter Nicole, Jeanne, Randy, Allison and her son Matthew, brothers Andrew, Norman, and David, and their families. Special thanks to the staff for their care and assistance at Arbutus Manor for six and a half years, and the last four months at Arbutus Care Centre. A reception in Bob’s honour will be held on Wednesday August 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. at ARBUTUS MANOR, 2125 Eddington Drive, Vancouver, where Bob lived until March.
